The Farmer and His sons
There were five sons of a farmer. They were strong and committed. But they were continuously arguing with one another. They even fought at times.
The farmer wished for his boys to stop fighting and arguing. He desired that they live in harmony. Simple words of advice or scolding have very little impact on these young people.
The farmer was continually thinking of methods to keep his boys together.
He worked out the problem one day. So he gathered all of his sons. "I want any of you to break these sticks without removing them from the bundle," he continued, showing them a bundle of sticks.
Each of the five sons took a turn. They used all of their strength and talent. But none of them were able to break the sticks. The old guy then split the sticks and gave each of them only one stick to break. They quickly broke the sticks.
"A single stick by itself is weak," the farmer explained. It's tough as long as you put it in a bundle. Similarly, if you work together, you will be stronger. If you are divided, you will be defenseless."
Moral Lesson
If we are divided, we will fall.
